Local SEO Rank Factors

Local FAQs

Write local FAQs that clarify coverage, access, availability and booking, keeping answers accurate and useful without relying on retired FAQ rich results.

Local FAQs answer recurring questions about a business’s location, coverage and practical service arrangements. They should resolve uncertainty that a customer would otherwise need to clarify by phone or through a form.

What it means for search

Questions about access, parking, travel coverage, appointments or available services can make a local landing page more useful. They can also address relevant informational searches. The FAQ format itself is not a ranking factor. Google retired FAQ rich results in May 2026, so these answers should be planned as helpful ordinary page content rather than a promise of an expanded search display.

A practical check

Collect questions from actual local enquiries and group them with the page where they belong. Write a direct answer, then explain conditions that affect the customer’s decision. Verify directions, service boundaries and booking claims with the operational team. Keep essential information, such as the real address and hours, visible outside the FAQ as well. Add an internal link to fuller guidance when a short answer would omit important context.

Review the wording with someone who answers local enquiries. A landing page may be technically accurate while leaving an important practical question unresolved. Add an internal link where a fuller explanation is needed, and confirm that the answer agrees with Google Business Profile. Local SEO work should not create differences between area pages merely to make them appear unique. If the answer is shared across the region, consistent wording can be the clearest and most honest choice.

A hypothetical business example

A hypothetical mobile technician may answer whether equipment can be collected, which suburbs are served and how an on-site assessment is arranged. If there is no public workshop, the page should say so clearly. A question about emergency availability should reflect a real service commitment, not provide a convenient place to repeat every suburb and commercial keyword.

Limits and next steps

Do not invent location-specific answers merely to make copied suburb pages look different. Avoid publishing unverified parking, access or response-time claims that could mislead visitors. Review answers when services or operating conditions change, and remove questions that no longer matter. Evaluate whether customers find the right information and submit better-informed enquiries rather than counting the number of FAQ items as an SEO achievement.

A focused local SEO review can connect this work with the pages, enquiries and business decisions it should support.

Common questions

Shared questions are fine when the answers genuinely apply, but include local differences only where they are real and useful.

No. Google says FAQ rich results stopped appearing from 7 May 2026; useful answers remain valuable without that feature.
